For those seeking a traditional musical style of worship experience and desire to gather in a space called “a sanctuary,” join us at 8:30am in Church of the Valley’s sanctuary. Our COV choir regularly sings. On occasion, special musical performances are provided by our Celebration Ringers Handbell Group, Gospel Larks, COV Winds, and our COV Brass.
One can park on either side of sanctuary located in the nearest parking lot to the outer highway 18 by entering Wakita Blvd or Standing Rock Avenue. Located next to the original “brown” chapel, which is best visible from Wakita Blvd, the sanctuary bells regularly sound with seasonal Christian hymns. Childcare is not offered at this service. However, parents are very welcome to watch their children in the Narthex (extended entryway) there are toys, rocking chairs, and a fun rug with windows looking into the sanctuary and audio of the service.
Luke 4:16-17
This passage of scripture indicates that there was a type of planned reading of scripture to be used for those gathered for worship. The scroll of Isaiah was handed to Jesus. Jesus didn’t select Isaiah to be read but rather it was given to Him to read because it was on the schedule to be read that morning. The early church continued a similar system of reading scripture each Sunday. Today that system is called, “The Lectionary.” It is argued by some that by following the scheduled readings of the lectionary on Sunday morning, one can hear most of the Bible preached every three years.
10:30 am Service
Currently, 83% of people who live in Apple Valley do not attend church. In the Bible we see examples of people who had met Jesus and bring their friends and family to meet Jesus for the first time. Jesus was known to be approachable by all. It was the religious people that had the hardest time connecting with Jesus. We believe God became flesh and lived among us; He left the comfort of heaven so that people who did not know God could know Him. For these reasons, we want to create an experience for non-Christians who have never attended church to feel welcomed. We strive to make sure we are not an obstacle for people hearing about Jesus. Therefore, we expect skeptics, agnostics, and atheists to be with us to meet Jesus as we gather. God is not afraid of our questions and welcomes them. At the 10:31am modern service, we are striving to provide an experience for people who question and struggle to know God. If you are not a Christian or a Christian who has not found church approachable, then this venue of our gatherings is for you.
We start with a few songs led by our band and a sermon that applies to your everyday life. It is OK if you have never attended church or haven’t been in a long time. No experienced necessary. Skeptics are welcome. Just look for the blue canopy outside and our hospitality team will show you where to go or feel free to just go in and find a seat. If you have kids, we have lots of options, for details on COV Kids you can click HERE. Our service last for about one hour. If you have a phone, scan the QR code to get all our announcements, sermon notes, church app information, and even extras to help you connect with God at home.
Use “Plan Your Visit” so we can keep an eye out for you. We’ll meet you at the blue canopy outside and take you to where you need to go.
Drip coffee is available and specialty drinks are for purchase at The Way Cafe. As a first-time guest, we would like for you to visit our book table and choose a book as a gift from us to you!
We believe guests are gifts from God.
This was the early church’s advice to the church of that day regarding people who had never attended church and who had recently become Christians. The “requirements” given to the newest, unchurched people had no suggestions about how to “worship on Sunday morning.” The early church was concerned with how one lived rather than how one gathered to worship God. It is estimated that there are 2.3 billion Christians in the world. We do not gather to worship the same way, but we do worship the same God. So, we believe the Bible gives us freedom to worship God together in many different ways according to our cultural understandings, as long as, the Bible is preached and the Good News of Jesus Christ is proclaimed.
